Recognition: Give More Than You Get
I know, I talk about recognition all the time, but there’s a good reason for that—recognition matters. No two ways around it. It gives a big boost to your career, while also quieting that nagging sense of dissatisfaction and invisibility present in so many IT pros.
However, recognition isn’t only something you can grab for yourself. You can give it too. Every IT pro can give a pat on the back to one of their colleagues, and a sincere acknowledgement of good work done is something everyone loves to receive. And I do mean everyone. Because I bet even your CIO and your Senior IT leaders don’t promote themselves enough to get the recognition they deserve.
For the next two weeks, you have the opportunity to correct that oversight
Computerworld has just opened up nominations for their Premier 100 IT Leaders list. They describe this list as their “annual search for technology professionals who have demonstrated leadership in their organizations through the use of IT and have the strategic vision to align technology with business goals.” Nominations are open from now until July 18th, and you can submit any CIO or top IT exec who deserves a little love from the industry.
So if your CIO, or one of your senior IT leaders, is doing great work, then I urge you to nominate them. Click here to do so, or to get more information on the program.
